ASUP wants YABATECH to honour retirees

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics YABATECH chapter has urged the leadership of the school to create a platform to enable it to honour its retirees annually.

The ASUP-YABATECH Chairman, Mr. Adeyemi Aromolaran, made the plea when the union held its maiden valedictory congress for its retiring members. About 40 persons were honoured on the occasion.

Araomolaran, who said the ceremony would become an annual event, lauded the retirees for their contributions to the polytechnic.

He said, “The decision to organise this novel gathering was born out of observation from the perceived indecent manner in which our members have been retiring after years of service without celebration.

This prompted the putting together of resources to ensure that this year does not go without organising a befitting exit ceremony like this. It therefore gladdens our hearts to bring this lofty desire to fruition.”

He also urged the authorities of the school to emulate the union by initiating an annual retirement celebration for its workers.
