TESCOM boss preaches excellence in schools
Teachers in public secondary schools in Ogun State have been urged to improve on their skills in order to sustain the academic performance of their pupils.
Commissioner 1, Teaching Service Commission, Otunba Timothy Adebowale, gave the charge when he visited some public secondary schools in the state.
Adebowale, who said a teacher’s lesson note serves was vital for teaching, criticised some teachers for not making effective use of the guidebook.
In a statement by TESCOM’s Press Officer, Mr. Tolulope Ogunjimi, Adebowale advised teachers to prepare lesson notes well before going to classes to teach.
According to Adebowale, the device assists greatly in the learning process of pupils.
He said, “The era of teaching without lesson notes is over. No teacher will be allowed to teach without lesson notes that are not up to date and well signed by their principals or Heads of Department, as this will help improve the academic performances of pupils both in internal and external examinations.”
He stressed the need for teachers to make use of structural materials provided by government in teaching the pupils, noting that the process would help them improve on their skills and ability to assimilate.
Adebowale further urged the teachers to be punctual in school, keep statutory records and discharge their duties as expected, noting that the commission would continue to monitor their activities in order to achieve the best for the sector.
The zonal Secretary, Ifo 1, Mr. Saburi Sodeinde, said the monitoring would help teachers in no small measure to promote affordable and qualitative education as well as encourage them to make use of essential tools in schools.
